Teeth whitening in Houston, Texas, is very beneficial and successful; however, it’s not for everyone. So, it’s important that you do your research before beginning the treatment. If you do your research and think about different options and consequences, you will have the best whitening experience possible. So, to help you, our Tommy J. Baugh, DDS team encourages you to consider the following things:

What does your dentist say?
Sometimes severe enamel stains can’t be corrected with a teeth-whitening treatment. So, if this is the case for you, your dentist will give you the best advice on proper treatment options. Teeth whitening is also discouraged if you have sensitive teeth, worn tooth enamel, or gum disease.

Is teeth whitening worth the cost?
There are times when in-office teeth-whitening treatments are not covered by dental insurance. If our treatment is not included in your dental plan, it might be a bit expensive. So, call your insurance carrier and make sure the treatment is covered so you have a good idea of the treatment cost.

Should you use an over-the-counter or professional treatment?
Over-the-counter and in-office whitening treatments can both whiten your smile and give you the results you’re looking for. However, they are both different. Over-the-counter whitening can be done within the walls of your own home but it might take some time before you notice any results. In-office whitening is quick and easy and you usually see results within one or two trips to our office.

Now that you’ve considered the mentioned things, we encourage you to schedule an appointment with Dr. Tommy Baugh so you can find out if teeth whitening is the best treatment for you. If it is, your dentist will also be happy to tell you which treatment will successfully whiten your smile. We look forward to helping you!
